Gotland Photo Workshop 2026
April 16–19, 2026 | Led by Philip Slotte & Foto Magica
Overview
Join Philip Slotte and Foto Magica on Gotland for a workshop designed to elevate your landscape photography. Over four days, we’ll go from foundational concepts to advanced techniques — all focused on helping you see and shoot better images.
Gotland offers incredible variety, from the iconic limestone sea stacks (raukar) to traditional coastlines, meadows, and cultural landscapes. You'll develop your photographic eye while exploring some of the most scenic areas on the island, including Folhammar and Fårö.
Itinerary
We arrive by ferry and travel to the eastern side of Gotland. In the afternoon and evening, we photograph the Folhammar sea stacks, followed by a group dinner at a local restaurant.
We return to Folhammar before sunrise for a dawn shoot. After breakfast, we head north to Fårö, making stops for photography along the way. Afternoon and evening are spent shooting and learning in scenic locations on the island.
We spend the day capturing landscapes across Fårö, with a focus on improving your composition and technical skills. Morning sessions start before sunrise; post-breakfast is for rest and review, followed by photography throughout the day.
Our last morning shoot begins before sunrise. After breakfast and a brief wrap-up session, participants depart from Fårö or return to the ferry terminal as needed.

About the Guides

Philip Slotte
Philip Slotte is a landscape and travel photographer from Stockholm. His interest in photography started at the age of 16 when he received his first camera from his parents. Since then he has spent a lot of time in nature to develop his photography.
His passion for landscape photography is based on constantly evolving and exploring new places. With over 13 years of experience in photography, travel and adventure, he has visited many of Europe's most beautiful landscapes.
His photographic style focuses on creating natural yet dreamlike images, working extensively with light and composition to capture the mood of a place.

Mattias Sjölund
Mattias Sjölund, landscape photographer and guide, is also the founder of Foto Magica. Mattias became seriously interested in photography in 2013. The connection to nature and landscapes was immediate and obvious as several of the elements Mattias appreciates are found there. Mattias categorizes himself primarily as a photographer with a strong attraction to the simple and stripped down and prefers to work with telephoto.
In 2017 Mattias started Foto Magica, initially as his own creative platform for his own writing and photography but already in 2018 produced his first adventure. He has been published in On-Landscape Magazine (featured photographer 2023) and with several articles in, for example, Kamera & Bild and Fotosidan and distinguished himself as a winner of the ND-Awards 2022 in the Fine Art Landscape category.
