Finnish Lapland 2026

Finnish Lapland 2026

January 21–25, 2026 | Led by Philip Slotte & Foto Magica

Overview

Lapland in winter is like nowhere else. Quiet, remote, and shaped by snow and light. This 5-day photo tour is about getting you to some of the most beautiful and atmospheric locations in northern Finland. From snow-covered forests to open fells and frozen lakes, we’ll explore places that offer real potential for strong, unique images.

We’ll return to selected spots as conditions change, giving you the chance to see and photograph them in different light and weather.

Group size is small, so there’s space for flexibility, personal feedback, and plenty of time in the field. If you’re looking for a chance to focus on your photography in a truly special landscape, this tour is for you.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival

We meet at Rovaniemi Airport around lunchtime. Transfer to Goiglo Hotel near Kuusamo. After check-in and briefing, we begin our journey with low-light photography and, if weather permits, breathtaking Arctic night skies.

Each day begins with breakfast and early photography sessions. We shoot in 2-hour shifts (6–8 hours/day) with warm-up breaks. Between sessions, we offer seminars in post-processing. Bring a laptop if possible.

About the Guides

Philip Slotte

Philip Slotte

Philip Slotte is a landscape and travel photographer from Stockholm. His interest in photography started at the age of 16 when he received his first camera from his parents. Since then he has spent a lot of time in nature to develop his photography.

His passion for landscape photography is based on constantly evolving and exploring new places. With over 13 years of experience in photography, travel and adventure, he has visited many of Europe's most beautiful landscapes.

His photographic style focuses on creating natural yet dreamlike images, working extensively with light and composition to capture the mood of a place.

Mattias Sjölund

Mattias Sjölund

Mattias Sjölund, landscape photographer and guide, is also the founder of Foto Magica. Mattias became seriously interested in photography in 2013. The connection to nature and landscapes was immediate and obvious as several of the elements Mattias appreciates are found there. Mattias categorizes himself primarily as a photographer with a strong attraction to the simple and stripped down and prefers to work with telephoto.

In 2017 Mattias started Foto Magica, initially as his own creative platform for his own writing and photography but already in 2018 produced his first adventure. He has been published in On-Landscape Magazine (featured photographer 2023) and with several articles in, for example, Kamera & Bild and Fotosidan and distinguished himself as a winner of the ND-Awards 2022 in the Fine Art Landscape category.
